Knife Party – "Centipede" [Video Premiere]

It’s unbelievable that almost exactly one year has passed since first hearing Knife Party’s Unreleased Summer Mix, an electro house/moombahton/dubstep explosion that introduced the world to a now crowd-favorite, “Internet Friends.” From there, Australian duo Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen have taken what was once a Pendulum “side project” to some of the world’s biggest festivals, collaborated with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, and released two heart-stopping EPs. Earmilk is proud to premiere Knife Party’s first official music video of their track “Centipede,” off the most recent release, Rage Valley, on Earstorm Records.

The video begins like a classic 1930’s film, with gritty credits opening on top of an orchestral score. Elliott Sellers, from The Masses Lab, makes the perfect director for this colossal dubstep track, having begun his artistic endeavors at the age of 16 as a death-metal drummer. Throughout the video, you can see the struggle between refined cinematography and all-out chaos, which remains cohesive with continually darting imagery to compliment Knife Party’s destructive wobble sound. At first watch the music video appears slightly disjointed, flashing between images of a man burning down an apartment, his tryst with a beautiful woman in red, and their ultimate, untimely demise. Upon closer inspection, however, bigger questions arise when his weapon of destruction claims his love’s life and cause his own gruesome transformation into a centipede.

Congratulations to Knife Party on their first music video, and a dark beauty that comes with Seller’s directorial vision. Make sure to check their Facebook page for upcoming events, and give them some love on YouTube for a great premiere.
