This is the Earmilk premiere of our new The XX remix.
We knew we wanted to do this remix the second we heard it. We’re consistently drawn to badass but vulnerable female vocalists like Lana Del Rey, Daughter, & most recently Metric… Romy Madley Croft from the XX definitely fits this bill. The aching emotion in her voice as she whispers over a stark washed out guitar line is haunting.
We wanted to take that quiet emotion and turn it into something epic, so we layered on the movie soundtrack percussion and then built the song out of these almost tropical filter sweeps into into big massive UK influenced 90’s rock lines with a dub vibe.
