Brighton retro sunshine pop quartet The Stanford Family Band unveils radiant sophomore EP Go Again, weaving a nostalgic collection that traverses eras of sounds while rooted in their distinct pop flair. Led by vibrant, warm analogue, rich melodies and a whimsical yet melancholic vibe, the project fully embraces the band's love of ’60s and ’70s music through analogue tape recording and restrained production.
From the bright guitars of "When Lonesome," to the tender vocals of glowing number "Deary Me," to the fuzzed out hypnotic feel of closer "Every Other Week," the EP weaves yearning and fondness together in heartwarming layers of shimmering guitars, vintage synths, and swelling organs. Building slowly and steadily, each track carries a sense of longing that's vividly present and timeless all at once.
With a vintage-edge to the songwriting and the glowing sonic signature paying ode to the 60s' charm, the EP sees the band build their sonic identity with confidence and clarity.
Speaking about the album, the band explains, “Go again is a sequel – we went for another EP as we felt we had some unfinished business in that area and wanted our last record to have a companion on the shelves. It’s been fab to have Pad and Harry with us this time around and to have more evenly split writing contributions, we think everyone really shines. We’ve tried to cover all bases with this one, Baroque, Sunshine and Power pop galore.”
Having established their distinct genre-bending musicality with their previous releases, this latest EP establishes the band's expanding palette of influences, framed by quirky charm and grounding authencity all at once.
