Ian Stahl channels rock memory and hope on new release "Peer Pleasure"

Ian Stahl’s new single, "Peer Pleasure," is a celebration of resilience, romance, and the unexpected places happiness can come from hard times. There's an energy and absolute charm to the song, and it captures the high of new love, but there’s a deeper emotional undercurrent that makes it stick.

"Peer Pleasure" sounds like an instant rock anthem, and it has a real assurance to it that makes you want to dance, sing along, and get swept up in its speed. The song was recorded during the pandemic when Stahl and his wife were trying to navigate uncertainty before they got married, and it speaks to a simple, powerful truth that sometimes joy is that much sweeter after difficulty.

Rather than dwelling on struggle, "Peer Pleasure" is more about optimism, about the fact that you got through the struggle and found something to celebrate on the other side. This track was recorded at Stahl’s co-founded converted barn studio, Coyote Run, in Joshua Tree, California. "Peer Pleasure" is the perfect blend of vintage inspiration and modern execution, mastered by Danny Davies. The result is a lively feel-good rock record that reminds you that the best things in life often come after the worst, and Ian Stahl has given us a thoughtful, personal, and positive track.
