Peppermint Heaven’s new remix EP, AI (The Remixes), attempts to tackle the pressing philosophical question of artificial intelligence: to what extent can AI emulate human creativity and emotion, and could you even experience love with it? The L.A.-based duo, known for their decade-long career championing a "retro-inspired auditory experience", bring their signature synth-pop sensibility to a concept that feels both futuristic and deeply anxious.
The original track, "AI," is described by the band as a "future-feeling, groove-rich experiment". However, the track's full potential is realized through the remix package, which sees Chris Cox, 7th Heaven, and Happy Robot Army transforming the single into a driving house and EDM affair for the club.
While the EP serves up multiple club-ready versions, the undeniable standout is the Chris Cox "Real World Dub". Where other mixes in the collection lean into a more conventional, "club mix" maximalism, Cox carves out a taut, hypnotic space that truly elevates the original’s conceptual depth. By stripping back the central melodic elements and focusing purely on a muscular, kinetic rhythm, the "Real World Dub" delivers a masterclass in building tension and atmosphere.
