Matt Jones and the Bobs drop reflect on growth in "Isn't It Strange" [Video]

Matt Jones and The Bobs return with “Isn’t It Strange," an introspective Americana song about how a past self becomes both unrecognizable and foundational.

“Isn’t It Strange” is a warm, acoustic-led cut that finds beauty in looking back without getting stuck there. Jones keeps his vocal soft and grounded, hovering between conversation and confession, which gives lines like, “I kissed girls that smelled like summer rain…” a raw but beautiful honesty. The refrain, “Isn’t it strange how good my world is now?” lands gently, more like a realization, capturing that subtle moment when things finally start to make sense. A steady acoustic rhythm carries the song, while light electric touches drift in and out, adding colorful texture. It sits comfortably between front-porch folk and fuller Americana, letting the storytelling do the work. The video mirrors that same sense of movement and reflection, placing Jones in the in-between spaces of Washington, D.C.’s Metro. Trains pass, people move, and the world keeps going as he takes stock. When it opens into cherry blossoms, it feels like a natural exhale.

Hailing from Southwest Virginia, Matt Jones and The Bobs first connected in college before recently reuniting to make music again. “Isn’t It Strange” marks the third single from their forthcoming full-length project, due out this summer.
