K-pop quintet FIFTY FIFTY kicks off a bold musical chapter with latest three-track collection Too Much Part 1, striking a balance between the fluttering emotion of new love and fearless curiosity. A playful, vibrant collection that weaves through raw confessions, unpredictable energy and plenty of charm, the project is that continues to establish the beloved band's signature brand of pop music.

Laden with honesty and self-expression, the band journeys through excitement and vulnerability, touching upon the highs and lows of life with a lively musical flourish that feels modern and nostalgic all at once.

In conversation with Earmilk, FIFTY FIFTY dive into their sonic evolution, going viral and keeping creatively motivated as they continue to cement their status as a global sensations.

1.First off, how would you say your sound has evolved over time and where do you see it going from here?

KEENA: Over time, I feel that the way I view music has changed. I now place more importance on the flow of emotions than on structure, and I’ve come to realize that I want to continue following that flow naturally moving forward.

2.What’s the inspiration/message behind “Too Much Part 1,”?

YEWON: Compared to our previous album, we wanted to express things in a slightly more ‘too much’ way. While ‘too much’ can sound negative, for us it means wanting to show a wider range of colors and possibilities.

3.What’s your personal favourite track from “Too Much Part 1,” and why?

HANA: It’s ‘Skittlez.’ Since it’s our first time trying hip-hop, it allows us to show a different side of ourselves, which is why it’s my favorite.

4. You’ve consistently maintained virality whether it’s with your own music or your take on other hits like “Golden,” what do you personally think is the secret to staying relevant in this age of trending music?

CHANELLE MOON: I think more than focusing on trying to stay relevant, we focus on providing music that is genuine to us and speaks to our fans and has great quality. We always strive to give the best performance and the best work that we can.

5.What or who inspires your artistry? Any artists you specifically look up to?

ATHENA: I specifically look up to Tate McRae. She is everything I want to be as an artist; performative, unique voice, singer-song writer, etc.

6.What’s the most rewarding part of the music making process for you?

HANA: I think the most exciting and rewarding moment is right after finishing the recording, when we listen back to it for the first time.

7.Releasing two bodies of work in a year is impressive. How do you keep yourselves creatively motivated and focused?

CHANELLE MOON: One of the biggest things is our TWENYs. They support us and give us so much love that we want to continue to give them back music they can feel comforted and happy with and we are always so grateful and our hearts are filled by their words of love.

8.What’s been the best/ most memorable moment in your musical journey so far?

KEENA: I think it’s when I can immediately feel the audience’s reaction on stage. In those moments, I most often think to myself, ‘I’m really glad I chose to become a singer.

9.What’s next for you? Any new projects in the pipeline that you can tell me about?

YEWON: It’s not something we can say for sure yet, but we all really want to share more albums with you as soon as possible. Please look forward to what’s coming!

10. Finally, what three words best describe FIFTY FIFTY’s music?

ATHENA: Easy listening, Diverse, Catchy. These three words!
