"Modern Mythologies" by Irish singer-songwriter David Keenan is a new album recorded in Dublin, and written between 2022 and 2025. Gavin Glass, Peter Baldwin, and Cian Synnott produced the 16-track album, underscoring how Keenan turns creativity into a vessel for reconciling memory, healing, and rebuilding identity.

This collection is a living anthology, a piece born of personal growth, recovery from addiction, and the age-old Irish storytelling tradition, with a contemporary artistic vision. From the beginning of "Poison Water," Keenan emphasizes that this project is about evolution and new growth. The song dares to speak to the ghosts of memory and break down emotional walls, exposing the raw truth behind them.

A review of the dreamers who are willing to risk everything, even if they know how hard it will be, Keenan's "Suriname or Bust" is compelling. His writing alternates between realism and playful observation, revealing that people are full of contradictions. "Amelioration," a track about yearning and urgency, underscores an essential point on the album. It's like someone pleading for help as they're about to find themselves, uncertain but optimistic.

Keenan's gift for mixing the ordinary with the bizarre is evident in "Lives Left Out to Dry," and "50 Quid Man" has a bit of satire mixed with desperation, capturing the madness of modern culture. "Incandescent Morning" is compelling and emotional music. It unreels gradually, like a prayer or soft scripture, revealing an intimate connection founded on proximity, acceptance, and the holiness two people without shame find in each other.

This song demonstrates how Keenan turns his particular experiences into moments anyone who's felt heartbreak can understand. "Radiate A Smile" has a buoyant, feel-good sound, and "We Live, We Learn, We Love" is introspective and yielding. Both songs illustrate that hope can exist even when everything appears hopeless. "Modern Mythologies" is a place where fear and joy can coexist, stories can be a balm for our pain, and every person might see a piece of themselves reflected.
