Trevor Sensor brings foot-stomping Americana on "Heaven's A Big Disgrace"

Illinois singer-songwriter Trevor Sensor has released his latest single, “Heaven’s A Big Disgrace.”

The second single from his upcoming album A Few Tears of Eros, which is out on August 8, Trevor Sensor previously released the melancholic “The Farm.” In contrast, “Heaven’s A Big Disgrace” is a self-styled “Southern rock stomper” about a beautiful idol who flies too close to the proverbial sun.

Partially based on his own feelings of railing against a world that values productivity over everything else, according to Trevor Sensor, “we’re prodded to prioritise production and accumulating symptoms of wealth…some folks ask me if i’m still doing music because clearly I haven’t made a dime from it.”

At a blisteringly short 2:42, “Heaven’s A Big Disgrace” doesn’t waste time and doesn’t hang around, ripping straight into foot-stomping guitar as it opens, shortly followed by Trevor Sensor’s gritty, scraping vocals. The lyrics are almost scathing in their straightforwardness, as Trevor Sensor sings but your friends in the press are always there/To tell you that they’ll always care/’Til the next young thing – that’s when they’ll desert you. It’s a tale as old as time, and Trevor Sensor has tapped into for this thumping take on it.

Trevor Sensor’s upcoming album A Few Tears of Eros is his comeback after a four-year hiatus, having made an impression on the Americana scene with his previous albums Texas Girls and Jesus Christ, Andy Warhol’s Dream, and On Account of Exile Vol. 1 & Vol. 2, as well as his dark, thoughtful lyrics that weave together old-school country sensibilities and he mythical surreality of American life.
