For her first track of the year, Toronto based artist Khadijah Lopez sets the mood with her space touched brand of neo soul.
Coming off the heels of her 2024 EP Good Company, Vol. I "Promise" takes the same atmospheric brand of modern soul and progressive R&B, with a twist. Lopez is an independent artist from the Great North, penning sentimental tracks over classical beats that shake up modern takes on R&B, but Lopez' take on the genre is rooted in classicalism. Tracks like "Promise" carry familiar instrumentals, filled with subtle guitar licks and strings, and a moody synth progression.
"Promise" also features Canadian creative Sheldon Sabastian, whose suave and charismatic feature dances with Lopez' for an undeniably cohesive chemistry where the two's verses push each other to give more and more to the track.
