New York's Quarantined Quartet have released their debut album, titled Strumming the Earth. The Quarantined Quartet are a family guitar ensemble featuring New York Guitar Academy founders Elysa and Jason Hochman, alongside their sons Joseph and Noah. The Quarantined Quartet represents a fusion of tradition, innovation, and familial unity, who have become known for their character-rich blend of Spanish classical, flamenco, and world music. They first gained attention during the global lockdowns, posting daily performances on Instagram for over 1,600 consecutive days, captivating millions during the pandemic. Their debut album, Strumming the Earth, showcases their signature sound across nine original compositions and three reimagined covers, all performed on four Spanish guitars. The album is both technically skillful and evocatively emotive, making the album a celebration of global music traditions and modern artistry.

The Quarantined Quartet’s Strumming the Earth is a mesmerizing fusion of flamenco, Spanish classical, and world music, all conveyed through the emotive resonance of classical guitars. With tracks like “Vals en Cuatro,” the album elegantly merges heritage with modernity, showcasing intricate guitar work that celebrates rhythmic vitality and melodic beauty. Songs such as “Infinity” immerses listeners in a melancholic nostalgia, highlighting the quartet's versatility and emotional depth through rich textures and haunting melodies. This album is a profound exploration of sound, inviting audiences to experience the interplay of tradition and innovation in a captivating sonic journey.

“This album means so much to us as a family,” says Elysa, Jason, Joseph and Noah Hochman of the Quarantined Quartet. “We’ve come a long way since we started sharing music during the pandemic, and each song reflects a part of that journey. We’re excited to finally share this milestone with everyone who has followed and supported us along the way.”

With Strumming the Earth, the Quarantined Quartet offers listeners a chance to reconnect with the beauty of instrumental music and the stories that can be told without words. Each track reflects their personal journey as a family and as musicians who have continued to inspire throughout one of the most challenging periods in recent history.
