Maver reflects on dark times and his musical journey in stunning new EP "Spirals"

Returning with an affervescent new EP project – Spirals showcases an emotionally raw journey through mental health struggles, blending introspective lyrics with lush, atmospheric production by Australian artist Maver. Following the success of singles “Lazy” (featuring jnr.) and “I’m Healing” (featuring LORA), the Australian artist delivers two additional standout tracks—“Damn Sad” and “Short Term Memory”—that perfectly round out this cohesive body of work.

At its core, Spirals reflects on the complexities of anxiety and depression, with Maver using his personal experiences to create an intimate sonic landscape. The EP’s title captures the sense of being trapped in a mental spiral, but there’s also an underlying message of hope and solidarity—an invitation to “be sad together” and find comfort in shared vulnerability. The production is both subtle and expansive, with Maver’s late-night bedroom jam sessions evident in the organic flow of each track. His collaborations with close friends, including LORA, Ukiyo, and jnr., add depth while maintaining the rawness of the initial demos. The result is a delicate balance of melancholic beats and uplifting melodies that leave listeners feeling both seen and soothed.

“Spirals is an EP that’s been a long time in the making. I started writing it in my bedroom in Perth back in 2022, during a period where I was really making progress with my mental health. A lot of the songs came from reflecting on my own experiences with anxiety and depression, as well as conversations I’ve had with friends who’ve gone through the same things. The title Spirals reflects how mental health can often feel like a downward spiral—like you’re stuck in your own head, going deeper and deeper. But it’s also a reminder that you don’t have to go through it alone. The main message of the EP is: It’s okay to be sad. Let’s be sad together, and maybe we’ll be happier." – Maver

With its introspective themes and relatable messaging, Spirals is not just a reflection of Maver’s personal growth, but a musical companion for anyone navigating their own mental health journey.
