Lara Taubman, the acclaimed indie Americana singer-songwriter, has just unveiled her latest LP masterpiece, The Gospel of Getting Free. This new collection marks a significant shift in Taubman's artistic journey, presenting her signature style with an invigorating twist. The album is a deeply personal narrative of renewal and positivity, reflecting Taubman's transformative self-discovery and emotional healing.

Taubman describes her latest work as a liberating voyage, capturing her path to emotional freedom. The Gospel of Getting Free is more than an album; it's a testament to her journey toward self-actualization and mental well-being. Influenced by her recent experiences with somatic therapy, the album is imbued with hope and resilience, showcasing Taubman at her most authentic and inspired.

A devoted New Yorker, Taubman's artistic roots lie in visual arts, where she initially made her mark as a critic and painter. Her sojourn in Montana's rugged landscapes sparked a new creative direction, leading her to music. Drawing from the rich musical traditions of Leonard Cohen, Patti Smith, and her bluegrass heritage in Virginia, Taubman crafted a unique blend of Americana and gospel-infused folk.

Since her musical debut in 2015, Taubman has captivated audiences with her evocative voice and compelling storytelling. Her first album, Revelation, released in 2020, established her as a powerful new voice in the Americana scene. Collaborating with producer Steven Williams, she quickly followed up with two more albums, Blind Spot and Ol' Kentucky Road, each deepening her exploration of personal and emotional themes.

Taubman's music is characterized by its deep emotional resonance and narrative depth. Her previous works, from the soulful Americana of Revelation to the bluesy undertones of Blind Spot and the spiritual explorations in Ol' Kentucky Road, reveal a consistent theme of seeking freedom from trauma and pain. In her latest album, this journey reaches a new zenith, with songs like "The Reason I Was Born" and "Sing Your Song" radiating newfound hope and humor, even when addressing darker subjects like addiction in "Sugar" and heartbreak in "The Odyssey."

Beyond her musical achievements, Taubman has a rich history in the arts and an enduring commitment to creative expression. Her background as a visual art critic and curator continues to influence her work, infusing her music with a distinctive aesthetic sensitivity. This interdisciplinary approach enriches her songwriting, making her narratives as visually evocative as they are sonically compelling.

In addition to her thriving music career, Taubman has embarked on a unique venture with Lara Sings Vintage, a vintage garment rental company. This endeavor reflects her lifelong passion for design and style, offering a curated collection of clothing that spans four decades. Many of her clients are fellow musicians, who appreciate the artistry and history embedded in each piece. Taubman enjoys integrating her love for fashion into her performances, creating a holistic artistic experience.

Taubman's journey from the coal country of Virginia to the creative epicenter of New York City has been one of relentless pursuit of artistic truth. Her music, deeply rooted in the old-time and bluegrass traditions of her upbringing, serves as a bridge between past and present, connecting listeners to timeless narratives of human experience. Her goal is to create music that resonates on a deeply emotional level, providing comfort and connection in an ever-changing world.

Living in Manhattan with her beloved pets and surrounded by her extensive hat collection, Taubman continues to push the boundaries of her art. The Gospel of Getting Free promises to be her most transformative work to date, a culmination of her life's journey and artistic evolution. Through her music, Taubman aims to offer a sense of solace and solidarity, reminding listeners that they are never alone in their struggles.
