London-based Jamaican / French artist Hendrix Harris is working on his new album Awakening, due in May 2024 but in the interim, he shares the visuals for the single "Falcon No Ducks". The experimental R&B track deals with betrayal, self-reliance and perseverance and it's a perfect introduction to Hendrix's nonconformist musical style. "Falcon No Ducks" is introduced by a dark off-centre soaring texture that peaks with a drop and Hendrix's commanding sultry vocals come into play. Over the punchy sparsely arranged drums and atmospheric pads, he shares his candid perspective on loyalty and how the principle remains core to his spirit. Armed with his varied cadence and inflections, Hendrix takes listeners through a wave and crests of emotions bolstered by melodic pillows and engulfing sound design.
The accompanying visual focuses on Hendrix as a lonesome Samurai Warrior being attacked by masked ninjas but the kicker is the video is stuck in a loop and replayed in a way that keeps viewers in a trance.
