Canadian rapper Lindasson reflects on his struggles on latest release, “Through The Storm.” The accompanying visual has a grim undertone as the artist spits his bars in a dark attic, abandoned buildings, and a desolate forest. He looks at the camera with a powerful gaze of introspection.
Despite its ominous music video, the single has a fast-paced trap beat that incites a head bop. The rapper’s lyricism is structured and deliberate. Each verse has a tinge of animation in his voice. He raps, “I was on hiatus but now I’m back, I done rose up out that dirt, D Rose resurrect, I been talking to your soul, you got a vest, aim for the head, I been gambling with my soul, might as well double my bet.” With each bar, he balances both self-awareness and vulnerable confidence.
“Through The Storm” is the lead single off his latest album, Flawless. The project dives deep into the rapper’s psyche to embrace his shortcomings. He describes, “This project is a genuine reflection of my soul, revealing the authentic, imperfect side of me that resonates with those feeling lost. Embracing my flaws, born from the darkest thoughts, allowed me to tap into a creative outlet that expresses my true self. Through this journey, I've come to see my flaws as perfect imperfections, an integral part of my story.” Lindasson is using his emotional journey to join the next generation of hip-hop.
