After a noteworthy journey with Jaga Jazzist and The National Bank, Martin Horntveth has revealed his debut solo project, adopting the persona of Gouldian Finch. "Like A Magnet", his latest release, a mellow house track featuring Marius D. Hagen of Team Me, arrives alongside two remixes: one by, and a reimagination of "Gouldamadin” by Jamie Lidell.
"Like a Magnet" seamlessly merges male and female vocals, creating a delicate ambiance with dreamlike qualities with echoes of 2000s house music. Defined by its melodies and the addition of vocal effects, the remix by Burnt Friedman contrasts with a more rhythmic style. The "Gouldamadin" remix, the final gem, features graceful string arrangements and captivating chord progressions, complementing the fervent vocals.
Martin tells us, “Marius (Team Me) and I go way back. Ever since their first release, we've been in touch and have built something that has resulted in several collaborations and a strong friendship.
“Marius was at the top of my list when I was looking for vocals, but more importantly as a composer and lyricist. The only reference I gave him was Daft Punk's 'Instant Crush ft. JulianCasablancas,' where two very different musical expressions come together. Marius took on the challenge with open arms, and I am incredibly happy with the results.”
