Sleep Nation shares sprawling 20-track collection 'AND THEN THERE WERE 2'

Alternative-rock duo Sleep Nation shares sprawling LP AND THEN THERE WERE 2 offering discussions of the everyday man’s life and the struggles of ardent desire to better ourselves within 20 tracks of steely blues-rock melodies.

Built on sincere vocals, cross-genre instrumentals, and classic rock elements, the album balances a nostalgic, old-time blues vibe with a vibrant and modern twist with a little something for everyone to immerse themselves in.

From the surprising soul-baring quality of light rock ‘n’ roll style of “SPACEman,” which draws you in with playful vocals before seamlessly transforming with a calm, introspective instrumental underscored with quietly painful moments.

Meanwhile, other focus track “The Ballad of Billy Jones,” charms us with smoky vocals, textured sonics and enticing lyrics to unfold a tale as Billy Jones sees something strange on the side of the road. Speaking to the mistakes that can be made when we are under the influence of addiction, and the strength that is necessary to bring ourselves out of it, the track switches from dread to hope with striking brilliance.

Consisting of lead vocalist Bran Merritt and drummer Joey Lauretta, Sleep Nation have earned themselves the title of “Out of Control Rock ‘N’ Roll Duo,” as they constantly give all of themselves to their high energy yet vulnerable musicality – and this latest LP proves to be no exception.
