Virginia artist mynameisntjmack has shared a new EP called BOOKMARK. jmack built momentum for BOOKMARK with a series of engaging, well-received singles, most notably the pensive "Leak", and he delivers on all fronts with the EP. An eclectic collection of songs that showcases his versatile style and ear for idiosyncratic yet catchy melodies, BOOKMARK blends elements of organically tinged hip-hop, R&B, and more for a dynamic release that entices with its colorful spectrum of sounds and personal, heartfelt lyricism.
BOOKMARK opens with the spacey "numbersnshit", featuring fellow Virginia artist Tommy Richman, which contains airy keys and laid-back percussion that leaves ample space for the vocalists' poignant performances. Capped off by a memorable, hypnotic hook, "numbersnshit" kicks off the EP strongly with a heady track that manages to balance its content with a feathery feel. Project lead single "Leak" is another standout, with its mesmerizing, mercurial production and enticing flows, laced with honest, gripping lyricism. Closer "scars" contains a contemplative, jazzy backdrop that suits jmack's smoky delivery well, as he finishes the EP on a vividly poetic note with detail-rich verses.
