Nashville artist Cool Boy Bobby has shared a new single called "Swishh", featuring Hard Liquor Shawty, JC Gwalla, and Pastor Troy. With his engaging, frequently emotive songwriting, Bobby has carved his own lane, baring his soul in his tracks in order to connect with his listeners on a deeper level. That isn't to say he cannot craft a hype track or a club banger as well, as he has developed a versatile discography that finds him offering both sides with similar charisma and focus. His latest track is "Swishh", a hard-hitting collaboration that acts as his love letter to basketball and NBA 2k with its motivational sound and potent bars.
Basketball has been a central inspiration to the hip-hop world in several ways. Numerous artists within the genre are known fans of the game and have drawn from the culture surrounding it. NBA 2K, a hugely popular basketball video game, has been the subject of numerous hip-hop tracks and has even been featured extensively in music videos and other visual media. “Swishh", which takes inspiration from the social media term of the same name that burst to popular consciousness last year, brings the best out of Cool Boy Bobby’s concept with its energizing, powerful production and sharply-crafted, lively bars. It's an effective pump-up track that captures the competitive spirit of the sport within its sound, making for an engaging addition to Bobby's growing discography.
Bobby says of his NBA 2K inspiration for the single: “I’d always take to 2K every time I feel like I’m stuck in a rut, and the adrenaline rush I get always pushes me to pick up from where I left off. I’d get the same rapture as whenever I play ‘ball with my homies, only that it takes me just a few minutes of console play in between production work. And that’s how ‘Swishh’ came about.”
"Swishh" is the latest from Nashville's Cool Boy Bobby, and it represents a potent, cohesive new collaboration that bristles with a vital energy.
