Emerging underground rapper and fitness enthusiast Empuls is slowly building his reputation and in his newest release "Prized Horse", he teams up with veteran emcees Copywrite and Slug (of Atmosphere). The record is a pure showcase of lyricism from the trio who pull no punches and give their ardent fans exactly what they asked for. Bolstered by the rumbling cinematic soundscape provided by Wu-affiliated producer Bronze Nazareth, Empuls set the tone with his animated chorus followed by Copywrite who paints vivid imagery with lines like "I close one eye and I arose in clothes of the Pharoah/but I ain't need a goal for the arrow". Empuls follows through with his slightly aggressive cadence and Slug closes the third verse with his unfiltered rhyme schemes.
The visual is directed by Man Bites Dog Records owner R.M.L. and John Grove who brought the characters to life in a miniature world they created inside Records and Rarities, the Northern Virginia record store (and home base of Man Bites Dog Records) filled with vintage arcade machines and crates upon crates of wax. When Copy and Slug heard the visual concept, they immediately sent over their own personal puppets they’ve used in previous videos to keep the continuity intact and the result is a nostalgia-inducing clip that 80s and 80s kids can rock with.
