You're used to mesmerizing guitar riffs turning a good track into one of legends, but get a hold of a bass line so great that your eyes light up in Kainalu's new single, "Queen of Wands."
The groovy, passionate single of the Hawaiian-based multi-instrumentalist embodies the infamous tarot card. Besides the sludgy bass that feels as luring as smudged lipstick, the synth ascent feels like warm summer waves in the ocean. On top of the instrumentations, there's the sensualness of the distorted vocal, reminiscent and assuring at the same time.
At the end of the chorus, Trent Prall, the mastermind behind the "Kainalu" alias, ever so gently sings the line "I dream about you every-day–" as the track melts into a full blown affair of the finest sample of psychedelic funk.
Kainalu has got quite the adventurous year thus far. With the release of "Queen of Wands," Kainalu announces his sophomore LP, Ginseng Hourglass, with the visual of said hourglass beautifully captured in the single cover art. Besides sharing a live EP back in March this year, the all-around talented Prall has been touring with the rising musical star Djo, the solo project of the ex-Post Animal rock outpost and Stranger Things' superstar Joe Keery. Ginseng Hourglass is set to release on November 4th, 2022.
