Deca and Blu connect for the jazzy and magnetic new single “Shelter,” a lyrically stunning collaboration between two of hip-hop’s most gifted writers. Bolstered by a soothing, nostalgia-inducing backdrop, both emcees share some insights into the world as it is. Deca opens up with his commanding vocal tone and reflective lyrics on how time passes one by in a blink while Blu continues with his time-tested lyrical wizardry. Fusing bravado with heartfelt lines like "a reflection of what is made direct from love/ giving love to the blessed above, my ancestors' hug." Both emcees absolutely shine over the shuffling, head-nodding production from Deca himself, who cleverly utilizes a vocal sample to transition perfectly into Blu’s verse.
"Shelter" is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms and is set to appear on Deca’s ninth studio LP, Smoking Gun, due out May 27 via Coalmine Records. The album will also be available on CD, cassette and vinyl in multiple configurations.
