Miami native and multilingual artist riela shares her latest single "sola". A sultry R&B bop fused with new wave Latinx, the single swims through shimmering R&B grooves with ease.
Born to indigenous Panamanian and Cuban immigrants, riela's vocals reflect her background. Flipping between English and Spanish, her vocal talents effortlessly flow in a plethora of languages. Her smooth tones and mellifluous notes boast of self-love and acceptance, while the tune's backdrop is a slow-burning mix of bouncy beats and synths that propel her own instrument with power.
"sola tells my own personal story of rediscovering who I am without the validation of romantic relationships and encounters," explains riela. "It’s finding my worth through giving myself everything I used to give to other people that didn’t deserve it." Solidified in its statement of self-reliance, "sola" unearths lush harmonies that make you want return to it for another listen; it's as if her act of self-love really does make an impact and in facts begin to influence.
riela is an artist who captivates you from the moment you hear her voice. "sola" is taken from riela's forthcoming EP llorar yperrear, out this February.
