British Nigerian artist Mukhy is having a time of his life in his new celebratory record titled "Posh Life" as he gears up to release his sophomore EP Kid Reborn in the spring. The Ransom Beatz, produced track is ripe with solemn piano riffs, warm basslines, and an infectious drum groove to boot. On here, Mukhy is in high spirits as he dispenses all the negativity and gloominess and invites us all to have a ball with him. As a rapper, he sure holds his own and delivers his bars in a nonchalant manner and he is also joined by fellow Nigerian singers Babbz and Sasuk3 who add their melodic styles to the mix.
The catchy track also comes with a cinematic music video that was shot across three different countries. Directed by Nigerian filmmaker and photographer Nosachii, we get to see the trio of Mukhy, Babbz, and Sasuk3 splurging and partying like it's 1999. From the bright color aesthetics, a bevy of beautiful models, and an entrancing party atmosphere, viewers do get a whiff of the high life even if it's for a few minutes.
"Posh Life" is the follow-up to his debut EP Posh Nation, and serves as a precursor to his sophomore EP Kid Reborn which is scheduled to drop in the spring.
Born in Lagos and raised in London, Mukhy was seemingly enjoying his life as an investment banker in the city before the global pandemic, but when the world went into lockdown, he was forced to re-evaluate whether he was truly happy with his life. Consequently, Mukhy quit his city bank job and found his way back to his teenage love – music. He began recording songs in the middle of the pandemic, leaning into afrobeats, UK rap and R&B cache, to great effects. Now, with a very well-received EP already under his belt and another to follow this year on the back of ‘Posh Life’, the rest, as they say, is history.
