Smallpools defeats an orange in "life of the party" new visuals

You may remember indie rock band Smallpools from their hit “Dreaming”, or even better, for their collaboration with the Chainsmokers on “Break Up Every Night”. Now the multi-talented trio is back and running full steam ahead with an all new single and visuals for “life of the party” which is off their upcoming full-length album. The band has also just announced a US tour which kicks off this November. Now if that’s not something to get completely psyched about, then I don’t know what is.

Known for their infectious stadium worthy anthems and their ability to turn a simple melody into a roaring hit, Smallpools’ new single “life of the party” is nothing less than extraordinary. Exploding with fervent energy complete with punchy electronic beats, funk-fueled bass and dark textured rhythms, the song will have you pressing repeat.  “We started working on this song in an apartment that I was renting in east Nashville just a day or so after the tornado struck and a few days before the country entered into COVID lock down. Our friend, Dave, came by to write with us and I just remember feeling some serious eeriness around what was happening outside of the walls of the apartment. I built a quick little loop in Logic that I felt was representative of the uneasiness we were all feeling and the song pretty much wrote itself." says Mike Kamerman (guitarist).

The video follows an orange as it takes on a life of its own while terrorizing the band, in various awkward yet comedic situations. According to the press release, the band confided that the orange was like a "Chucky" character that further enhances the darker conception of the song. In the end, the orange does not triumph and hope is restored for both the band and humanity.

Since the band's inception, Smallpools has amassed hundreds of millions of streams-to-date with their signature sound of electro pop meets indie rock. The trio have opened for acts such as Twenty One Pilots, Walk the Moon, Grouplove and many others.
