palmtreeprince looks to continue his hot run of form on his brand new single "'bout us".
After successfully establishing his eclectic, pop-centric sound on his previous releases, the London based producer/artist continues to take us down the intertwining paths of inner thoughts with this new track. After the immersive, diverse experience of his debut three track effort Come Find Me and then his blistering, experimental pop single "Lo Siento", it was always going to be interesting to see where palmtreeprince took us next.
As it turns out, we were in for a much cleaner, controlled and concise experience. "'bout us" is a feel-good love song directed at the recurring muse character that continues to pop up in all the releases from "the prince". This track is a deeper exploration into the mind and particularly the songwriting of palmtreeprince. This track is written from a place of purity and honesty and the raw emotion that is on offer here is hard to ignore. You can tell through the lyrics the sheer amount of need palmtreeprince feels toward this muse of his. The production is excellently handled as always with a constant feeling of movement in the synth stabs that fall in and out of pocket to create a sense of swing to the record. The synths are complimented with bouncy drums and rhythmic percussion to further enhance the swing and the way these sounds just fold around his voice is proof that palmtreeprince is extremely attentive when it comes to details and these details are the thing that will separate him from the chasing pack.
