Four-piece orchestra/neo soul band known as White Ascot are pushing the envelope with their refreshing take on soul, jazz, and classically inspired arrangements. Their newest release "All Over Me" sees them linking up with rapper Vuyo,(member of itsgiddygang and collabs with Ol’ Burger Beats.) for a solid collaboration that seamlessly blends two different worlds of live instrumentation and hip-hop.
From the soft warm tones, pulsating basslines, and groovy but sparse drums, the lead vocalist Frida Lydia takes charge with her sultry melodic runs and airy vocals as she dwells on finding hope with love despite the odds. Vuyo adds his own 2 cents towards the end with a solid verse depicting vulnerability while capturing the theme of the song. Lydia and Vuyo play opposite sides in a situation where two individuals have feelings for each other but it seems the timing is never in sync.
With two singles released in 2020, "All Over Me" serves as the third single from the band's upcoming debut album which is scheduled for release in April 2021.
