Vallejo, CA native Christian Kuria drops his latest remix of “Toroka” featuring Alex Isley and it is a pure, soothing listening pleasure. Isley is most recognized for being the daughter of the Isley’s brothers' Earnie Isley. The song’s lush, honeyed vocals floating over an entrancing beat allow listeners to be softly lulled to into seduction. “Toroka” is an ode to his Kenyan heritage. The song is about trying to avoid our issues for fear that they will always be a part of us and become our baggage. A big anxiety sufferer, Kuria knows this feeling all too well. Toroka is a Swahili term that means “run away” which is appropriate for a track that details trying to escape your problems.

The 25-year-old suave neo-soul singer first entered the scene with his notable Youtube covers.  The producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, has a dad who was born and raised in Kenya so African culture is a big part of his music and his life. In “Toroka” you can really sense that appreciation for his heritage. Check out the silky-smooth tune now.
