New York’s Serra has shared a majestic new visual for their single “Solar Eclipse”.
Serra is a duo comprised of Sena Bodden and Sydne Broady. Both of them play music as well as produce, recording all of their music in their New York City apartment. Their breakout project was 2020’s A Heaven of Hell, a melancholic collection of R&B and pop ballads.
Serra’s latest single “Solar Eclipse” is smokey and nostalgic. This downtempo track moves at a relaxed pace as reverb-soaked guitars ring out. Somber keys underscore the guitars, adding to the reminiscent feel of the song, while Serra provide bittersweet lead vocals overtop. Overall “Solar Eclipse” offers a mood of wistful reflection, full of longing and desire.
The visual, shot by the duo, is emotive, showing beautiful ocean scenes and abstract close-ups. The video is lo-fi and features muted colors, yet it is simultaneously vivid. While minimalistic, it captures the yearning that the song portrays through majestic imagery and retro filtering.
Considering that Serra are still very early in their career, “Solar Eclipse” is a strong portrayal of the duo’s personality and sound. This hazy single is a solid addition to Serra’s growing catalogue, and makes one excited for another project soon.
