For the majority of us, 2020 has probably been the worst year of our lives. The pandemic has made us lose loved ones, confront loneliness and lose jobs. One thing that's kept our spirits high and our heads above water, has been the constant release of dope music. One artist who's been on a creative streak in 2020, is twenty three year old Los Angeles dweller Emeryld. She's back to show people how she's prepared for the next year, with a new song & accompanying visuals; entitled "Right There".
What "Right There" really does well, is get you into your feels. Written so eloquently, the lyrics are all about that post-breakup sadness you get, and all the baggage that goes along with it. Lead by reverb drenched guitar lines, Emeryld's soothing voice cuts through so beautifully, as she croons about heartbreak. Upbeat drum patterns give the track that head-nodding' rhythm, whilst her lyrics really come to the forefront. That whirlwind of post-break up thoughts are conveyed through the New Yorker's voice. "I've been a wreck, wondering what kinda bitch next, does she look like me?" is a line we can all relate to when it comes to your ex's new partner.
"Right There" is the first single from Emeryld's forthcoming mixtape which is due to be released in 2021.
