Eclectic UK singer/rapper retropxssy's knack for fusing weird, off-the-cuff topics and contemporary music styles has always caught our attention. On her newest tune "Sleepyhead" she taps into something old and nostalgic and pairs off-kilter lyrics over a catchy garage backdrop. The track is brimming with unapologetic honesty and a dose of hedonism with realism. It sure shows her versatility to take popular musical forms and merge it with her true voice.
Despite lyrics like "I'd take it if it's cheap, I'd take it if its free, /lower my standards for my low self-esteem/pound of flesh for the monthly bleed" it's quite obvious she also having fun. The overall mood of the track is upbeat and bubbly but she still keeps her somewhat straight face deliver throughout the record and also throws in a smooth melodic chorus to lighten it up further. "Sleepyhead" is a follow up to her previous single "Double Take."
