Finn Irregular makes a great first impression with "Waves"

Originally from North London, the now Melbourne based artist Finn Irregular is exactly that: irregular. A founding member of the jazz and funk unit Messy Mammals, he is now gearing up for his first project as a solo act.

Drawing from a melting pot of influences, from jazz, hip-hop, R&B, electronic music and so much more, his sound is full-bodied and modernly chromatic. With his first ever release as a solo act, Finn Irregular chooses to make a proper introduction with his debut track, "Waves".

Music Is My Sanctuary · Exclusive Premiere: Finn Irregular "Waves" (Forthcoming on Tuckshop Recordings)

"Waves" is the first taste of his upcoming debut EP, Summer Rains,  which will also mark the inaugural release on the brand new imprint, Tuckshop Recordings. Premiered on Music Is My Sanctuary, the track is a downtempo instrumental house track. Consistent with the title, it features a misty, tranquil groove that comes and goes much like the sounds of waves crashing along the shore. An infectious funky bassline, laid down by bassist Matthew Hayes of Melbourne jazz collective 30/70, adds a sharp bounce that drives the track throughout.

Summer Rains is due out on streaming on December 7. Also available for purchase with a limited edition run of vinyl, now available for pre-order through Tuckshop’s Bandcamp here.
