Emerging Chicago artist Lady Xo teams up with fellow rapper JR007 for the official video of their collaborative track "Dead Roses."
The duo is on to something with this one as they deliver a mix of melodic rap with grit and street sensibilities over Dretta's cinematic piano-driven backdrop. JR007 sets it off and reflects on life as he hustles like no man's business to achieve his dreams. Lady Xo is not far behind and gives us a quick peek into her own struggles with lines like "Sipping from a bottle, I can almost see the bottom/I can drown out all these problems but I know that it won't solve it." The track culminates with both parties in a smooth melodic tandem on the chorus showing their skills as songwriters.
The accompanying visual directed by Stacking Memories is straight forward and makes use of simple set pieces and a lot of performance shots of the two artists.
Lady XO is currently working on her first full-length album scheduled to drop sometime in October.
