After marking her territory with the hustler anthem "Money" a few months ago, Canadian/Nigerian singer TÖME is back with a solid summer jam titled "Concentrate."
TÖME delivers a mix of sultry melodic vocals and some code-switching bars to show that her versatility and then some. Joined by Nigerian Afropop superstar Runtown, TÖME more than holds down the fort and the chemistry between the two is noteworthy.
The track is a rich blend of afrowave, hip-hop with Afrocentric pop sensibilities. TÖME sure sounds at home here and delivers her lines in English with some patois twang and Nigerian broken English. Runtown definitely delivers and croons with his usual laidback demeanor especially when his voice is layered against TÖME's. For the visuals, she goes for a straightforward animated styled video, most likely done due to the global travel restriction. I reckon they might shoot a real video for this but we just have to wait.
"Concentrate" is off TÖME's recently released number-racking album dubbed Bigger Than 4 Walls.
