The London-based musical outfit, The Legend of OKORO make their way to our consciousness with this vibrant and infectious jam titled, "Kunyie." The percussion-driven piece is a multi-layered pupu platter of sounds from the motherland. Seasoned Djembe player Ayodele Scott crafts a gripping foundation for the instrumental track while we get to hear the OKORO seasoning in the mix. The collective's musical touch is subtle and acts as a complement to the energetic drums from Djembe.

OKORO · Kunyie ft Ayodele Scott

"Kunyie"  which means “wake up” or "get up" in the Igbo language is actually the debut release from The Legend of OKORO and it's a solid introduction by all means. The opening monologue implores us to take charge alongside pounding rhythms and cinematic textures. "Kunyie" provides a sudden drive to the listeners to wake up and keep the momentum of life going.

The Legend of OKORO is a collective of like-minded creatives who have been DJing in the East London circuit for years and are also heavily involved in the Asa Baako festival that takes place yearly in Ghana. Ayodele Scott is an accomplished all-round performer in the West African tradition. He is a master drummer and has trained and performed as a dancer with the Sierra Leone National Dance Company.
