VALE is fierce in new pop track "Be Somebody"

Colombia’s VALE injects the exotic rhythms of her native land into the indie-pop she creates for something as exquisite as her latest single “Be Somebody.” VALE’s vocals move with the gracefulness—and fierceness—of a lioness past a ponding kickdrum and swelling bass, pouncing at the right moment each time. The club-ready summer track never loses its rhythm through layers of complex production.

At the young age of 17, VALE seems to have a solid grasp on the current pop landscape, which allows her to flavor the genre with South American dance influences and R&B melodies. “Be Somebody” was produced by Heavy Mellow (Halsey) so there is much pop music cred to go around in this new single.

The accompanying music video has VALE showing a more playful side, charming and sincere, that layers the assertive tone of the music and lyrics.

It's clear listeners are ready to explore the sonic jungles of modern music and that international artists like VALE are ready to guide the new direction of modern pop. In “Be Somebody,” VALE presents us with a song glossy enough to appreciate its surface appeal but filled with deeper songwriting meant for contemplation and adoration.
