After 2018's Life of a Wallflower Vol. 1, producer, DJ and Chicago-native Whethan continues to tease his forthcoming debut album, FANTASY, with another collaboration. The fourth prelude, "So Good," he maintains his disinterest in the boundaries of genre, adding a snappy and dark hip-hop edge to Canadian singer-songwriter bülow's lyrical lovesick melancholia.
In a recent press release, bülow states, "You know when you’re in the depths of trying to get over someone – can’t function properly, eat, or sleep – and the only thing that’ll help you move on is the distraction of someone new, that's what this song is about."
Introduced by simply a guitar and vocal, a spell of silence marks the shift in the energy as the track fully blooms; gritty synths collide with icy vocal chops, plying manic energy to the theme. Turning his hand to a multitude of genres with masterful ease, Whethan's style is becoming less about the genre and more about the distinctive dance-inspired energy that remains ever present through his stellar back catalogue. Keep your eyes peeled for FANTASY, coming later this year.
