Aonair is the solo venture and moniker of Brendan McGlynn, a Donegal-born singer-songwriter who, despite his youth, has an already storied music career, performing in bands like Thumper and Raglans. His single "Hope You Feel It" is an astonishing ode to experiencing inner doubt in an uncertain future.
The video, shot in black and white by Stephen Patrick Allen and featuring McGlynn and Dearbhaile Casey is a lesson in spontaneity:
“We tried to write a script for the video so many times. But it just never felt right,” McGlynn says. “So we decided a plan was probably a bad idea. We just got into Stephen’s car and began making the video. Our concept was to let it be aesthetically driven rather than focusing on a narrative. We had specific imagery we wanted in it and we built the narrative around that.”
The result is a beautiful project where the music speaks for itself. The synth driven electro-pop track is about trying to find your place in the world, written by McGlynn while living in Germany, hoping he’d finally feel like it was the right place for him to settle down and make a life for himself.
