Surf Rock is Dead return with the melody-driven "Diabolik"

Walking the length between dutifully nostalgic and ahead of the curve, Brooklyn-based duo Surf Rock is Dead consider '80s post-punk aesthetics through a modernistic dream-pop lens. Forgoing the lo-fi elements commonly found in their influencing styles, SRiD for short, opt for a tighter and more contemporary approach to production that simultaneously pulls focus to the melody, and complemented by a shimmering reverb.

The song addresses the unpredictable nature of life, with the band specifying in the press release, "'Diabolik' is about dealing with some extreme situations we’ve encountered living with various people in NYC. Sometimes you never know what you’re going to get… " "Diabolik" is flavoured with familiar themes that feel like a distant memory, and with its delivery carrying such a dreamlike yet emphatic presence, it's hard not to get swept away with the groove.

With their 2020 return comes the announcement of their debut LP Existential Playboy, arriving May 1st.
