With a sophomore album slated for release later this year, TriOrca has delivered the project’s first single entitled “Halfway to Heaven.” The transatlantic trio of multi-instrumentalist Phil Simmonds, drummer and producer David Diaz, and writer/vocalist Whitney Myer has a delectably unique sound that blends elements from an array of music styles and eras. The new track showcases their originality with effortless style and tasteful production.
“Halfway to Heaven” stands out with a fuzzy sonic aesthetic and engaging harmonies while Myer’s slick vocals hold the listener’s attention throughout. Her soulful delivery is enhanced by a few choice moments of exquisitely layered vocal harmonies that take the track to another level. All the while, Simmonds and Diaz hold down the low end with an infectious beat, throbbing bass lines, and some brilliant flourishes in production.
