Watch Louis Prince’s sinister soothing “Ode” video

After years of making music under his own name, musician Jake McMullen just released his debut album Thirteen under the name Louis Prince. The work feels like a warmer version of Bon Iver, with cool synth and jazzy feelings. McMullen is influenced by greats like Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett and the sounds of Ethiopain jazz, and of these influences says, "It’s a lot of music without words…Lyrics don’t get to me as much as playing the piano does."

Unlike previously released single, “Half Acres,” which has that sexy jazzier feel, the single “Ode” is quiet and dark and the corresponding video strengthens the mystery and darkness. The video is set in the woods and features two of the tallest women in the world, Ekaterina Lisina and Katia Lebedynska. The women are featured looming over a chopping block blasting open a massive prickly fruit then sensually plucking its seeds. We’ll not give the rest away but highly recommend watching the video, which accomplishes a whole lot of cinematic mastery in its four minutes.
