Whitney showcases slide guitar and angelic vocals on "Far, Far Away"

A few weeks after the release of the much-anticipated Forever Turned Around (Secretly Canadian) and in the midst of a packed tour schedule, the Chicago band released a two-song EP, FTA b/w Far, Far Away. Single “Far, Far Away” is a lullaby of a song about missing someone, confusing love and being apart. The opening lines go: “Far, far away from those city lights/they might be shining on you tonight/far, far away from you/on the dark side of the room.” The song showcases singer Julien Ehrlich’s sweet falsetto vocals and Max Kakacek’s signature slide guitar, taking their bluegrass influences into a peaceful place.

Both Whitney boys are former members of the Smith Westerns and over the years have developed a tight songwriting companionship. Forever Turned Around is an album about relationships, both friendly ones and romantic. “FTA” is a reprise to the album’s title track, “Forever Turned Around” and the accompanying video teaser shows a touch of the behind the scenes.

The band is still on tour, about to bust out several sold out nights at Chicago’s Thalia Hall. After a long lull in new releases, we're pleased to have a new single on our hand and are hopeful for more.
