The first time watching Blossoms’ music video for single “The Keeper” gives you a feeling similar to the one you get when watching an indie movie with a happy ending. It captures that warm and fuzzy glow that comes from an uptempo song about love. Framed around the vintage-inspired visuals are people's take on what they believe a "keeper" is – and it's adorable.
Shot on Super 8 film, the UK band members are accompanied throughout by a wholesome choir belting out the chorus on busy sidewalks. I believe this is just one feature that makes the song attention-grabbing. Hammering piano chords, high-rising, harmonizing chorus vocals, and 1970's bell-bottoms wrap it all together. Formed in 2013, the band has released consistently unique indie-pop tracks. Personal favourites are “Charlemagne” and “There’s A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)”. I'm reminded of styles similar to The Naked and Famous mixed with a classic rock undertone. Off of their upcoming third album Foolish Loving Spaces expected January 31st, “The Keeper” is a hint of what we can expect from Blossoms come 2020.
