Take A Daytrip get ugly on new single "Lighthouse"

Production duo, Take A Daytrip, teamed up with rappers Rico Nasty, slowthai, and ICECOLDBISHOP, on their latest single “Lighthouse”. The New York-based producers, David Biral and Denzel Baptiste, are gearing up for their upcoming project, Take A Daytrip vs. London. The producer/DJ duo have been students of the game for quite some time, having met almost six years ago. Their exploration of different music genres has given them the chance to create sounds that seamlessly blend hip-hop, EDM, and rock. A few of their noteworthy creations include Sheck Wes’s anthem “Mo Bamba” and Lil Nas X’s “Panini”.

Their ability to create a banger is not lost on “Lighthouse”. The beat is grimy and grungy with deep bass that compliments the 3 high energy rappers. Their production typically consists of more melodic and upbeat sounds, so this track is a test of their versatility. slowthai, kicks off the song with boastful lyrics which you can’t hate, considering the year he’s had. The U.K-bred rapper was nominated for the Mercury Prize for his album Nothing Great About Britain.

LA rapper, ICECOLDBISHOP’s wordplay is mean over the heavy bass. Delivering bars equivalent to pulling up, mask off. Honestly, the most noteworthy verse on the track, with a double entendre (non-affiliated still I’m not the one to play with/ n***** killed the homie, so we bout to Take A Daytrip) worthy of a rewind.

You can’t ignore Rico Nasty’s contribution to the track. In her typical rager fashion, she disturbs the peace with aggressive energy, floating over the eerie bass. She’s been teasing new music after her early 2019 release of Anger Management.

If Take A Daytrip can maintain this energy, there will be much to look forward to on their project.
