Benin City go for an ominous cinematic style on their new single "Lord Of The Manor". The song is the follow up to their fun-filled single "What A Time," which encouraged listeners to seize the day and make the best out of it. On "Lord Of The Manor", the mood switched to a more dark and energetic pace. Driven by sizzling drum pads, brooding synths, and distorted lead vocals, the record takes on a life of its own as they ignore the rules at every turn. The effrontery showcased in the braggadocious lyrics lends its strength to the title which is a statement by itself.
"Lord Of The Manor" is yet another brilliant piece by the London based experimental trio who keep pushing their musical boundaries by being masterfully unpredictable and beautifully eclectic. The record is taken from the group's The What A Time EP which is scheduled for the end of the year via Moshi Moshi.
