Mizzy Raw gets introspective on new single "The Poet" [Video]

We introduced you Philly-bred, Jacksonville-based MC Mizzy Raw earlier this year with his single "TYVM (Loot)". Now, Mizzy has returned with a more introspective single titled "The Poet". Though different from his previous release, "The Poet" is a welcomed departure yet still highlights Mizzy's storytelling ability and rawness.

Produced by Dominic Green, "The Poet" is a piano driven cut that has guitar accents during what would be the chorus. It's the perfect foundation for Mizzy to vent a bit about his family and his low points. Though only just a little over three minutes, "The Poet" packs a punch that leaves you wanting to reflect on your own moments where the valleys seemed more prevalent than the peaks.

For the video, which was directed by Film Rat Productions with graphics from ShaneyMike, we see Mizzy at home and walking around pondering on the moments he is spitting about in the "The Poet". Taking a more authentic approach, the visual complements the song like a match made in heaven. It truly helps bring it to life.

Let us hope Mizzy has more music like "The Poet" dropping soon. The fall and winter are the perfect time to do some soul searching for the spring and summer.
