Eccentric Bay area artist August Roads struts to his own beat when it comes to his music and image. The genre-fluid act's single "51%" is all about pushing boundaries and being grateful for every little thing that makes you happy and sane in these crazy times. He channels an energetic pulse with a cheerful demeanor as he sing-songs over the pop styled backdrop. On it, Roads explains that he may not be the brightest, richest or best-looking bloke in the world but he is damn happy whenever something good comes his way.
To bring the song to life, Roads calls up director Haley Bowman who delivers a cinematic piece that fits the artist's left-field approach while capturing the celebratory aspect of the song itself. Roads fully embody his eccentric persona and shy away from the obvious summer-tinged elements. Whether he’s chilling in a dumpster with his bear named Bubba or destroying home furniture, the 27-year-old singer/songwriter is clearly having a good time. Of course, that’s the idea behind the song itself.
"51%" is taken from Roads' debut EP, Highs And Lows, which is due out Oct 18 through all major DSPs here. Pre-save Highs And Lows here.
