SOFI TUKKER share new single "Purple Hat" from upcoming EP 'DANCING ON THE PEOPLE'

The Grammy-nominated duo of SOFI TUKKER continue their multi-planetary inter-dimensional liberation of everyone's inner dancer with their latest single "Purple Hat".

That deep baritone from Tucker Halpern rattles the soul as the strumming from Sophie Hawley-Weld's guitar electrifies the atmosphere to create another vibrant and intoxicating dance number. But what I really took away from this track, is that SOFI TUKKER are nearing an ascension to something greater than just a notable dance act.

The guitar chords and that deep baritone vocal from "Purple Hat" are very, very reminiscent of the chords used in tracks like "Bat Shit". Perhaps the upcoming EP will play more like a sequel to their 2018 album Treehouse rather than a project of its own? But then tracks from the new EP that have been released thus far like "Swing" and "Fantasy" hit with a brand new dance pace and bold utilization of inventive new sounds when compared to their earlier album Soft Animals. I believe "Purple Hat" serves as a testament that SOFI TUKKER have proven that today's listener (fan or not) can now easily recognize them seconds into any track. So, now that SOFI TUKKER have honed in on their signature sound, this upcoming EP is sure to act as the bridge that represents the ascension from dance-pop duo to iconic musicians that will surely influence generations to come.

For many musicians, this artistic leap to get to the next level doesn't come easy. Even David Bowie had to reinvent himself into Ziggy Stardust to really explore that side of his creativity but thankfully, SOFI TUKKER already carry within them a kaleidoscope of musical curiosity, courageous exploration, and fiery passion that will support this leap greatly. I really believe that 'DANCING ON THE PEOPLE' will be the defining first step that demonstrates the fearless commitment that this duo possess. As they prepare to valiantly take their artistic expression to the next step and dive blindly into the vast abyss of their own limitless creativity, they'll thankfully be doing it together. In an era of constant new dance bangers flooding SoundCloud each and every minute, SOFI TUKKER somehow continue to deliver dance-floor heaters that hit differently each time. We'll be waiting anxiously for what daring expression of radical creativity is still yet to come!

SOFI TUKKER's upcoming R.I.P. Shame World Tour will bring the duo across North America and Europe following the EP release this fall. Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern are on "a mission to kill shame one loose dance party at a time," with Australian dance outfit Haiku Hands and DJ/producer LP Giobbi supporting all North American dates. Tickets for all tour dates are on sale now at www.sofitukker.com/tour.

The R.I.P. Shame World Tour the duo will be supporting The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and their local affiliates. with $1 from each ticket sold on each US stop of the tour will go to support them and their programs and services through PLUS1.
