In light of the launch of his new label, Name Dropper, UK artist Mark Jenkyns has delivered another house reverie in the form of "Fantasize", renewing his partnership with house artist Mizbee on an iridescent track.
"Name Dropper will be a home for my music and a place to work with friends and artists I respect," Jenkyns shares of the label. "[We'll] always [be] in collaboration, where we can be free to stretch our creative and musical ideas—basically dropping a name I love, whenever I want."
"Fantasize" sneakily opens with an introspective ambiance that progressively builds into an unabashed bass line teeming with vigour and quiet confidence. Rhythmic from the off, a looping piano groove is joined by crunchy drums and enticing strings whilst Mizbee's soulful vocals operate throughout. It's a house track that takes in all that is classically house and amalgamates it with present knowledge, shown through the careful curation of subtle synths and kicks—delivering a track that's perfect for kicking off Name Dropper's reputation.
Hot Creations regular and seven-year Paradise Ibiza resident Mark Jenkyns has accomplished a lot over the years, performing regularly at events like ElRow and VIVa Warriors, with releases on labels such as Suara, VIVa and Crosstown Rebels. In 2017, Jenkyns teamed up with Newcastle-born vocalist Mizbee, releasing "Sirens" via Hottrax—the beginning of their friendship and one that kickstarted their effortless collaboration.
