Belgian producer Polar Youth (Elisabeth Verstraete) does not take her musical identity lightly. Influenced by genres ranging from pop to house and back around to R&B, her music has always expressed diversity, but at the heart of it all, it has mainly stood for authenticity. Her debut EP, Lost & Found, commemorates the journey taken to find her inner peace, with the latest single "Drifter" leading the way.
Enlisting the vocals of Hanne Torfs from the Belgian trio Fortress and L.A rapper Trent the HOOLiGAN, "Drifter" is a warm and inviting track that makes the world feel just a little smaller in under 3 minutes. Posing as a summer dance track, it surprises with a clean trap beat and electro-pop leanings. Torfs' elegant vocals whisk you away to an imaginary place, while Trent's verse eases you back, completing the full journey. It's a symbolic ode to the EP's purpose, which Verstraete shares was brought on by her artistic doubts shortly after her 2014 debut. "The whole process made me think about luggage at airports that are forgotten about or left behind: you can always find them back in the lost & found area. That's exactly how I see it: I lost myself, searched inside for some time and then found myself back.”
